Description:

The trainee will join the research team of the University Remote Sensing Center, contributing to its ongoing research activities in the fields of environmental monitoring, infrastructure surveillance, and digital twin development. Depending on the candidate’s background and interests, activities may include:

  • Field and satellite surveys: acquisition and processing of data from satellite missions (e.g., Sentinel, PRISMA, COSMO-SkyMed), UAV, GNSS sensors, laser scanner, and photogrammetric techniques; integration of multi-source data for environmental and infrastructure monitoring.
  • Data processing, modelling and development: geospatial data analysis in GIS environment; implementation of machine learning algorithms for classification, change detection, and predictive analysis; development of digital twin components; programming for process automation and heterogeneous data integration.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in or graduated from a degree program in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Environmental Sciences, or related fields.
  • For survey-oriented profiles: knowledge of data acquisition techniques (GNSS, UAV, laser scanning, photogrammetry) and/or satellite data processing.
  • For analysis and development-oriented profiles: good programming skills (Python, MATLAB, R, or similar), familiarity with GIS and geospatial libraries, interest in machine learning and digital twin applications.
  • Good command of English.
  • Ability to work in a team and, for field activities, willingness to conduct outdoor surveys.
  • The position is designed to host more than one intern; candidates with different and complementary backgrounds are welcome to apply.
