Description:

This internship targets Mixed Reality enabling technologies, spanning software and hardware integration, to reliably merge real and virtual content for medical applications. The trainee will work on core challenges such as dynamic tracking, calibration, registration between virtual objects and physical reference accuracy and robust MR interaction to support the reliability of augmented strategies for its clinical and surgical operative adoption.

Main activities / expected outputs:

  • Contribute to generate effective an end-to-end MR pipelines.
  • Have fun developing MR applications in Unity/Unreal, targeting HoloLens2 and/or Varjo XR-3.
  • Implement/experiment strategies to monitor and reduce misalignment (drift, occlusion, instability).
  • Explore device/sensor integration (hand tracking, controllers, body markers).

Requirements:

  • Master’s-level student in Engineering / Computer Science / Biomedical
  • Basic programming skills (C#/Unity or C++/Unreal or Python)
  • Interest in healthcare training, interactive gaming development
